Renewable energies, a mandatory path for the future

Renewable energies, a mandatory path for the future

Renewable energies have more and more prominence. The resources of the earth are not infinite and it is important to look for green energies, safer and more respectful with the environment to avoid exhausting all the resources available to the earth. That is why there are many energy companies that are putting means and effort into investing in these renewable energies.

Several Spanish companies offer their customers green solutions, such as ecological tariffs in large electric or geothermal and aerothermal heat pumps to reduce the electricity consumption of homes and reduce emissions of polluting gases. Both in Santander (more information here) and in Albacete (all the information can be found here), they have access to ecological tariffs with 100% renewable energy.

Spain: leader in the growth of green energy in Europe

Spain is leading the growth of green energy throughout Europe, with an investment that last year amounted to 6,800 million euros. This figure, seven times higher than the investment in green energy made in Spain the previous year, places the country among the top 10 of the global trend. Spain has the fastest growing renewable energy sector in Europe, with total investment only behind Germany with 9,300 million euros and France, with 9,250 million euros. The increase is good news for the sector, after energy investments in Spain were reduced after 2012, standing at 1,100 million euros in 2017.

Solar energy is the cheapest source of electricity

Solar energy is already the cheapest source of electricity in some countries, and it is also the largest source of energy, in terms of net addition capacity, in the last two years. Once these lower prices are established, and the industry has gone through another wave of oversupply, low profitability and consolidation, solar energy will become even more competitive in new markets.

In fact. prices for solar modules dropped by 35% last year due to the increase in global competition, which means that there are more and more solar installations around the world. Even China, a country that uses coal as its first source of energy, has exceeded its target of 105 GW of rooftop solar capacity by 2020. In the first half of 2017, it added about 7 GW, three times the previous year. It also aims to add about 55 GW of solar energy to the utility’s scale, which connects to the grid.

Coal gives way to clean energy

Although coal remains the main source of energy in certain countries, both in Europe, as in the case of Germany, and in the rest of the world, more and more countries, in part thanks to the Treaty of Paris seeking reduce the pollution that this source of energy produces and give way, investment and preference, to renewable energies such as solar, wind or hydraulic to achieve a cleaner and more respectful world.

Pellet stoves and pellet boilers are made with the replacement market for diesel boilers.

Provinces such as Galicia are betting on biomass to replace all those old gas oil boilers, by more efficient and ecological systems such as pellet stoves and pellet boilers. The Xunta de Galicia has invested more than 80 million euros to promote this sector and help clean up all Galicia’s forests.

The heating future: The geothermal heat pumps

For more than 30 years both in northern Europe and in Canada, the geothermal heat pump has been used as a method to heat homes, buildings and industries. The geothermal heat pumps are the most efficient solution for heating and cooling of any type of housing as it achieves 500% yields. This is why the Spanish market is growing at high speed increasing the sales of this type of technology by more than 200%
